If I don’t post about a show, I’m not coming – Adekunle Gold
The Obafemi Awolowo University community has since Monday been operating in an atmosphere of Festivity. The Ife Food and Identity Festival.
This festival has attracted dignitaries from across the Continent and beyond. The program, which was spiced with The grand opening of The Wọlé Soyinka museum and had performances by troupes and performances by the ‘Fuji Bahubalhi’ King Saheed Osupa, The Orente crooner- Adekunle Gold amongst others, as part of activities lined up for the event.
Monday night was a night to remember as the fuji icon, Saheed Osupa, graced the stage of the Obafemi Awolowo University Amphitheater. Tuesday night was also one to remember as students of the Ivory tower of learning, OAU, in their numbers, waited patiently for the ‘second coming of the King’ King AG.
After hours of waiting, students had to go home in disappointment, ‘why didn’t he come?’
Just a few hours ago, Adekunle Gold took to his twitter page and announced that he never promised to show up for the event.
In his words, ‘Apparently, a show organiser lied to the OAU students that I was coming to perform yesterday, I have never promised to appear somewhere and not show up. If I don’t post about a show, I’m not coming. Thank you’
The festival, which was organised by the Institute of Cultural studies of the Obafemi Awolowo University is aimed at appreciating the culture, especially the the Yoruba culture due to the fact that Western education has brought a thick shade on the African culture, and it’s not showing any signs of getting better soon unless something is done.
The festival continues till Saturday, 4th August, 2018.
